Quahogs and chowdah and bee-ah oh my!

The picture is my granddaughter Maeve, with that quizzical, nay clueless, look I doubtless wear when lost on a long run. I include it because it is something happy and cute to look at while I make my farewells.

Tomorrow when you are running I will be making my last preparations for my return to the land of Quahogs (look it up if you don't know what they are), where the soup you have for lunch is chowdah and what you drink at happy hour is bee-ah. I go by way of the Land of the Cheeseheads and the place where the tall corn grows (for family events). I will miss you all, a lot...but I'm not dying or anything, I'll be back periodically. I'll still read here and write here. I'll cheer your accomplishments (and grieve with you too if it is ever neccesary). I'll keep you posted about me. Rhode Island is nice if you want ever want a change of pace, with lovely Fall colors and cool spring days and if you are ever in New England, please ask Slingshot for info to reach me. I'd love to see you!

And I hope that in some ways when I am back in a few months, it will be as though we were never parted.....

How the hell did the summer go by so fast? Is it already almost September? We'll be in touch, Suellen. You'll be back before you know it.

Missing all of you a lot and I'm not even back to Rhode Island yet. I'm in a motel room in Iowa after quite a successful family reunion...and the opportunity to reconnect with a former student who is now a librarian nearby. The reunion was in memory of my grandmother (she died in February) and tomorrow morning I will be running a 5K in personal tribute to her. It feels like the right thing to do. Please wish me luck.
