Why it's so tough to get in a run with relatives in town

So, 6 cousins come in from Italy; it's their first trip to the states. This is our schedule:

Thursday night, they come in at 9:30. We have dinner at 10:30, and sit around until 12, drinking coffee and trying to speak each other's languages, but all of us sounding like 3 year olds.

Friday: up at 7:30. Eat a quick breakfast, which, for Italians, is cookies and espresso. Manage to convince them to try american coffee and croissants, at least. They look on in horror as all the Americans eat eggs for breakfast.

9:30: board the metro for downtown DC. Spend the ENTIRE day at the Natural History museum, trying to keep 11 people together. Saw the butterfly exhibit, an exhibit with over 50 species of live butterflies flying around.

4:00: the museum closes, take metro to White House. Try to convince Italian cousins not to spit on the lawn of the White House. Somebody comes out of the White House. After speculating that Bush is coming out to say hi, decide it's the cleaning crew, trying to look important. Still, all the tourists take pictures of whoever it is standing on the front porch.

7:00: make it home and get ready for dinner, which doesn't start until 8 pm, but lasts until 11 pm.

12: finally, the Americans beg off and go to sleep.

Saturday: more of the same, except this day, we visit all the monuments in DC.

Sunday: Get up at 7 am, eat, hop in cars for day at Kings Dominion. Spend entire day there, until the park closes at 10. Go to brother's house and eat dinner at 11 pm. Finally, kids are cranky enough that I can beg off and go to sleep.

Today: Hang out in Richmond.

Tomorrow: get up at 2 am, catch bus to New York at 3 am. Spend entire day in New York, riding around, visiting monuments. Maybe we'll make it home by midnight, or we might stay over and do it all again on Wed.

Thursday: Cousins leave and we all get to rest. Maybe by Friday, I'll get a run in...
